Tips For A Memorable Surfing Experience

Freedom is to go wide in between the blue sea and feel the wind brush through your hair! Sailing is gateway to freedom and among the greatest joys of life.

But, there are few things that can make you feel otherwise about being in the sea. To avoid any such inconveniences and to have a memorable experience in the sea there are a few tips that you can follow:

Larger Looking Objects

When there is low visibility in the sea you may see objects that create illusion. As the visibility drops between 30 to 150 yards, the objects may appear larger than they are. For instance, if you see a boat in such low visibility, it will appear larger in size as well as moving at a much quicker speed.

No Compass to Steer Straight

There are owners of small boat who steer in the sea without a compass. In case of low visibility it will lead to the boat moving in circles, as there is nothing to point the right directions. In these circumstances, draw a line from the mast or the bow and drag a cushion or anything that can hold on. This will help you steer straight in one direction.

Steps To Be Taken in Fog

If you experience a fog bank or fog starting to appear, ensure that you stay in one position. Do not move and keep your self in that point either with helps of bearings or electronically. Make sure that you ring your bell every minute for 5 seconds while still at anchor. Look out for sounds of other ships and vessels approaching. If you her any let them know about your presence by sounding the bell, first short than prolonged and then short again.

Old Hose Guards

Do not discard your old hose guards. You can use these hose by cutting a foot long part of it and splitting it to put around the dock and anchor line of your boat. If you do this, it will prevent the boat from chaffing when it passes through the chock.

Kitty Litter

When your boat is not in waters, use boxes of kitty litter and put it below. This will help your boat eliminate odors, get rid of mildew and absorb moisture.

Tool Kit

It is handy to have a coat hanger made of metal in your tool kit. It will help you to free the hose and limber holes of any blockages. Also you can use it hang something in nooks that you can’t reach.

With these useful and handy tips you can confidently set sail for as many boating adventures as you want!
